Basic per-installation is the same It doesn’t matter whether you are going to use town gas, natural gas, propane or butane.
It IS very important to know which gas you are using !
If the boiler is going to running your central heating and hot water there are additional considerations that we will look at a little later.
First of all a safe gas supply up to the boiler. This should have solid gas pipes not plastic or rubber. There should be a gas cut off tap near the boiler and a gas pressure regulator next to the gas bottle which should be located outside.
The water supply into the boiler should also have a cut off tap in case of emergencies or simply servicing the boiler each year.
*** Your boiler should be inspected each year by a qualified gas engineer. Not someone that you met in a pub !***
We have gas installed now we need water.
Also a small drain for the condensate in the flue.
If we are also heating the central heating we will need a water in and hot water out connections. These are fitted to separate CH connections on the boiler.
Electrical connection. This provides power for the programmer and ignition of the gas when heating or hot water is required.
The Flue will be balanced or normal free flow. This will be detailed on the boiler packaging and manual.
When you pass the flue through a roof or external wall it will need to have some form of termination such as a hat like cover to stop birds nesting in the flue. This is a common accordance if properties are left empty for a while.
Occasionally we do find boilers were no flue has been fitted allowing the fumes to enter the home.
Very Dangerous.
Its always best to have your boiler checked by professionals
